Last July I worked on a series of paintings for a contest for a children's book. Even though I didn't win, this was super helpful on getting some pieces done for my portfolio!
The deadline was short for the amount of work so I had to make a sprint...
... The hardest art sprint I *ever* did. It was so tough waking up at 5am and going home close to 10 pm for a month.
Below I share some of the process I went through when designing the snail. At first I wa splanning on placing his eyes on top of his head until I realized the book said they were on the anthems... saddest moment ever. Hahahaha!
Also: a HUGE shout out to Norman Haldeman who helped me out TONS on this particular image and kept me going, as well as my OA family.
